Esther Amunga

Esther served as a volunteer Director at the Mukuru Slums Development Project for a number of years (www.mukuruprojects.org).

She is working towards making a change in her own community both in Kenya and in the USA, (Shimalabandu, Kakamega, a rural village in Kenya and the city of Pontiac, Michigan).

Esther is also passionate about training young children to become published authors. She offers classes of this nature to the children in the city of Pontiac as well as teaching them to be Peacebuilders.

She initiated a project called “African Kids Read” includes the building and equipping a children’s library and literacy center in memory of her mother who was, in her own rights a great scholar, university administrator, teacher, academician, and a woman who overcame all odds to be her best in life.
